Fairy Tale Dolls

Hello dear friends!  I've been working on a little project for the past couple of weeks, and if you've been following the last few posts, will have already seen the first two dolls in my new series of Fairy Tale dolls.  These little girls were inspired by the beloved fairy tales that we all know and loved as children!  I've finally finished the set and here they all are: Li'll Red, Alice in Wonderland, Snow White and the Little Mermaid.

Each doll was made with wool blend felts from http://www.etsy.com/shop/BenzieBazaar and they measure between 5 and 6 inches tall.  The patterns for these little girls are now available in my shop.

Have a happy weekend,
~Shelly

Bunny Barrette and Brooch Tutorial

Hi everyone!  I haven't done a tutorial for quite some time and I think I've come up with a sweet little project you'll enjoy!  These dear bunnies can be made into hair barrettes or brooches and would look perfectly adorable for an Easter outing or really for any day at all!

To download the pattern, please click here: PATTERN PIECES

So, here's what you'll need:  Felt, matching embroidery thread, barrettes and/or a 1 inch brooch pin, a water soluble pen and a pink pencil crayon.

Cut out pattern pieces, lay onto felt and cut out.

Starting with one of the bunny bodies, place the tail just off centre as shown and applique on.  This will be the front body.

Using your water soluble marker, mark a little eye and embroider on.

Place the two inner ears together and whip stitch all the way around, ending at the bottom edge with a blanket stitch.  Keep the thread attached.

Place the inner ear onto the back bunny body, slightly overlapping the bottom edge onto the top of the head as shown.  Please click on the image to get a better view:)  Applique bottom edge of ear onto head.

Place front body onto back body, making sure that the edges are evenly aligned. Whip stitch all the way around, starting at the right side of the neck.  Again, don't end off the thread as you'll need it to sew on the little bow.

Position the bow in the centre of the neck and stitch the very middle onto the body.  If you have a good length of thread left over, take it through to the back of the bunny as you'll be using it to attach the barrette or brooch pin next.

If you're making a brooch, place the pin lengthwise at the back of the bunny and sew it on securely, making sure that you sew it to the back body only - you don't want to see little stitches poking through at the front!  Attach the barrette in the same manner.

Congratulations!!  Hope you enjoyed making these little darlings!

hugs,

Binky Boo's

Hello dear friends!  Hope you're all having a wonderful week!  I just wanted to share some pics of my newest creations - they're called Binky Boo's and their pattern is now available in my shop.

The pattern includes instructions and pattern pieces for all four Binky Boo's - a Bunny, Bear, Kitten and Fox.  Each has a different body with movable arms, a unique hairstyle and a sweet, hand embroidered face.  They measure between 4 - 6 inches tall and are fun and easy to make.  I will warn you that due to their small size, some of the pattern pieces are pretty tiny!  But, they are ever-so-sweet once finished and I'm sure they'd make adorable Easter gifts!

Hope you like them:)

New Pattern GIVEAWAY!!

Earlier this week, whilst I was still busy working on two new creations, I got a special request from a dear blogger/flickr friend who requested that I hold another pattern give-away for these two special little dolls.  I like to post pics of my works in progress on flickr, and he happened to see pics of the bunny before she was fully completed.

So, for your chance to win one of the five patterns, please leave a comment with your name and email address (very important so I can send them along to the winners!).  The draw will take place on Monday, February 27th.

Best of luck to you all!!

Flopsy and Mopsy

Hello dear friends,

Spring is on it's way and what better way to welcome it than with a sweet little bunny and her basket of carrots and a dear little kitten along with her fishy friend!

Please meet Flopsy the bunny and Mopsy the kitten!  I just completed these two this week and I absolutely adore them!  I think, for me, that they're by far the most favourite of all my creations!

Each doll measures about 8 inches tall, not including their ears.  They're made with hand woven felt and have hand embroidered details.

These two have been adopted, but I definitely have plans to make more in different colours.  I will be making the patterns for these available too and they should be ready in the next few days.  I'm planning on having a GIVEAWAY for their pattern, so please don't forget to visit for your chance to win one!!

I also recently made a little donkey named Dudley and a pony named Pinky.

I've combined their two patterns into one and they're now available in my shop.  Pinky's mane and tail have been needle felted on using two different colours of wool roving and Dudley's tail is braided embroidery thread.

Please check back within the next few days for the pattern GIVEAWAY!!

Flora the Explorer

Hello friends!  Sometimes, at the oddest moments, I'll get an idea in my head for a new design and I just have to get my notepad out and figure out the pattern for it.  Well, a couple of days ago, I had one of those moments and with out delay, I sat down to start working on a new little kitty.  I know it's cheesy, and I couldn't resist, but please meet Flora the Explorer!!  Isn't she sweet?

As usual, I've used hand woven felt to make her body, shoes and suitcase, and a pretty floral cotton print for her dress.  She's a quite a bit bigger than most of my animals and measures just over 6 inches tall.  Her dress and shoes are removable and I've made embroidered 'travel stickers' which I've appliqued onto her case.  I just love this little girl and I hope you do too!  Her pattern is now available in my shop.

Flora is easy to make and would be the perfect companion to take along on a nice long journey - after all, she loves adventures!!

Have a wonderful week:)
